Market Street at DC Ranch
One of my favorite places to photograph families in the Phoenix area!
This is my #1 shooting spot, and I really love this location. There is so much variety here, which means we can create a gallery of images that feels completely different from one photograph to the next—all without having to travel to multiple locations.
You can find a little bit of everything here: an urban and industrial feel, beautiful desert landscaping, botanical areas, rustic textures, and plenty of shade when it's hot outside.
Why I Love This Location
One of the things I love most about Market Street at DC Ranch is all the different textures and backgrounds.
This location offers lots of fun textures to work with—copper and stone stairwells, glass buildings, fences, bridges, desert landscaping, cactus, rustic benches and farmhouse doors, cobblestone, vine walls, brick, a rock waterfall feature, and a desert walking path.
If you want variety, this location really does have it all!
And because the flowers and landscaping change throughout the year, it can look a little different every time you visit.
Spring and fall are especially beautiful for desert photographs when everything is in bloom!
A Great Location for Families
This is also a great spot if you're bringing a larger family. There are benches and stairwells that give us some good options for larger group photographs without everyone having to stand in a straight line.
And there's plenty of room to move around, which I love because some of my favorite family photographs happen when we're walking, talking, laughing, giggling, and just having fun together!
When Should We Go?
One of the best things about this location is that we can photograph here at almost any time of day because there are so many shaded areas and different backgrounds to work with.
Morning sessions also tend to have easier parking.
The location does not require a photography permit, which means you don't have to pay an additional location fee.
What Should We Wear?
I love when families coordinate their outfits rather than perfectly matching.
Choose a color palette that works well with the surroundings instead of putting everyone in the exact same color. Neutrals with pops of color and different textures photograph beautifully here and work really well with the surroundings.
If you're not sure what to wear, don't worry—we can talk about it!
If you're looking for a location with lots of variety, beautiful textures, and plenty of options for your family session, Market Street at DC Ranch is one of my favorites.
